Accra, Ghana’s capital and largest city, is home to millions of people, yet thousands of children still live on the streets without hope or support. These little angels face daily struggles—hunger, poor health, and lack of education—making them some of the nation’s most vulnerable citizens.
In 2015, Future of Africa (FOA) began feeding and caring for children in Accra. By 2019, we opened the Norviwo Community Center (NCC) to provide long-term support, food, and pathways to education. Our goal is simple: to help street children transition into safe environments where they can thrive, learn, and eventually lead their communities with empathy and initiative.
Our Mission and Efforts
Every week, FOA’s staff, fellows, and volunteers visit the streets of Accra to provide food, basic healthcare, and companionship. Children who are motivated to change their lives can join our scholars program at the Norviwo Community Center. Here, they gain life skills, mentorship, and preparation to enroll in partner schools.
Through this model, Norviwo not only feeds and shelters children but also restores their hope. Each month, we provide food, medical treatment, and crisis intervention to at least 60 children. Every year, about 32 children successfully transition from the streets to the classroom. Our Fellows program further strengthens this impact by training young leaders to serve the most vulnerable in their communities.
