Sofiat’s Story: A Struggle for Survival

Sofiat, a mother in Uganda, recently gave birth to quintuplets. Tragically, one baby boy died shortly after birth due to malnutrition and lack of medical care. The remaining four infants, weighing less than 1.5kg each, now fight for survival.

The midwife in charge, Ms. Babine, remarked:

“In all my years here, I’ve never seen quintuplets. They were born full term but very small and in urgent need of special care.”

Previously, Sofiat gave birth to twins and triplets, losing one baby and their father. Now remarried, she and her husband, Mr. Bilali Masale, live in a fragile mud hut with 11 children. Their resources are stretched beyond breaking point, and the hospital is ill-equipped to care for the quintuplets.

The Urgent Needs
